About the Role

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist with a strong background in setting up mills and lathes. The ideal candidate will be proficient with machine setups, tooling selection, and precision work with close tolerances. While programming experience (e.g., Fanuc, Haas, Okuma) is preferred, we value candidates who are eager to grow, take initiative, and contribute to continuous improvement in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Requirements


Responsibilities

·         Perform complete setups on CNC mills and lathes, primarily Okuma machines

·         Set tooling, fixtures, work offsets, and verify program readiness

·         Troubleshoot machine, tooling, and process issues to maintain production flow

·         Understand and adjust control-based programming as needed

·         Make necessary program edits at the control (Okuma/Fanuc)

·         Support first-piece inspections and maintain tight tolerances

·         Collaborate with current machinists to maintain workflow consistency

·         Assist with process improvements without disrupting team stability

·         Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance throughput and quality


Knowledge

·         Strong hands-on experience setting up CNC mills and lathes

·         Working knowledge of Okuma controls preferred

·         Familiarity with Fanuc controls

·         Understanding of G-code and control-based programming logic

·         Ability to troubleshoot machining, tooling, and tolerance issues independently

·         Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation

·         Skilled with precision measuring equipment


Experience

·         3–5+ years hands-on CNC machining experience (mills and/or lathes)

·         Demonstrated experience performing full setups independently

·         Experience working in low-volume, high-mix environments preferred

·         Experience in aerospace, medical device, or high-precision industries preferred

·         Experience supporting automation or lights-out machining (if applicable)


Education

·         High school diploma or GED required

·         Technical certification in machining, manufacturing tech, or related field preferred

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this role:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time (up to 8–10 hours per shift)

  • Frequent use of hands for tooling setup, measurement, and machine operation

  • Ability to lift and/or move materials and components up to 50 pounds independently

  • Occasional lifting of materials exceeding 50 pounds with assistance or mechanical support

  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach as needed

  • Visual acuity sufficient to read blueprints, digital screens, and precision measuring devices
